Privacy notice
How Ward66.co.za handles the information you send through the question form, and the documents shown on this site.
Who is responsible
The responsible party for personal information collected through this site is the site publisher: Publisher and editor details will be listed here once confirmed.
Contact: A public contact address will be published once it has been approved.
What we collect
- Your question (required).
- Neighbourhood, name and email (all optional). Give an email only if you want a reply.
- Your choices about a reply and about anonymised publication.
- A hashed (scrambled) form of your IP address, kept for up to 24 hours to limit spam. It is not used to identify you.
The site does not use advertising or tracking cookies and does not run analytics. A short-lived session cookie is set when you load the question form, only to protect the form against forged submissions.
How it is used
- Your message is sent by email to the site’s editorial inbox. The website does not store it in a database.
- Every message is read by a person. Nothing is published automatically.
- If you ticked the consent box, your question may be published with your name and any identifying details removed. If you did not tick it, your question stays private.
- Your details are not sold or shared for marketing.
How long it is kept
Messages are deleted from the editorial inbox within 12 months of receipt, or sooner if you ask. Spam-protection records are deleted automatically after 24 hours.
Your rights
Under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) you may ask what information we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, or object to its use. Use the contact details above. You may also complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa.
Documents and testimonials on this site
Original emails, screenshots and resident statements are kept off the public website until the people concerned have agreed and identifying details have been removed. Resident statements are only quoted where consent has been documented. If you are named in a document and have a concern, please contact us.
